2022.02.22 – The Unvaxxed DJ Diaries – A Plea Goes Unanswered

This is a copy of the electronic message I sent to the owner and a couple of select managers of Katarzyna, who had been my primary employer over the previous several years before the segregation mandates began two months ago. I sent this message just two days before my 44th birthday, which was also just two days before I would become homeless for the first time in my life.
Apparently, just like the other messages I sent regarding my concerns, I didn’t even rate being worthy of a reply by this mob.
Dear Mr Bickle
My name is Dion Hunt and though I do not believe we have officially met, I hope that at this stage of my career working with Katarzyna, my reputation precedes me. If not then I would like to take this opportunity to formally introduce myself and as stated, my name is Dion Hunt and for the last decade I have been a resident DJ for Katarzyna venues such as Cloudland, Press Club, Empire, The Warehouse and Birdies, performing under the moniker Dastardly Kuts. During this time, I have watched all these venues evolve into what I now consider to be some of Brisbane’s premier venues, and I feel blessed to have been able to play some small role in helping to make that happen.
As you may be aware, I have been a vocal proponent against the state Governments Covid-19 mandates because of how they infringe on an individual’s freedom of choice and to a lesser extent, Katarzyna’s decision to wilfully enforce these mandates. I have no desire to further inflame the debate but what I would instead like to do, is make you aware of recent developments regarding the Covid-19 death toll figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics that are relevant to these mandates. The ABS statistics, in conjunction with results from the Therapeutic Goods Administration regarding vaccine deaths and injuries are of the utmost importance for you to see and understand, because they are evidence to an issue that could have long-term ramifications for your business, your staff and the community at large over the next several months.
I have provided links to the ABS Covid Mortality and TGA Vaccine Statistics that I will be referencing in this message and implore you to consider what I am writing very carefully before disregarding its contents.
Firstly, let me make it clear that this data, alongside recent findings from the Australian Governments Select Committee enquiry in the Covid-19 pandemic are continually developing and though I have spent countless hours investigating and staying informed, I ask that you use all due diligence in becoming aware of the truth to the current situation by conducting your own, deeper research.
Since the vaccine rollout began, I have been following these and similar statistics and comparable findings from countries all over the globe and I can confidently say that what I am about to tell you is not some conspiracy theory or fake news report to be ignored. It is, in fact a world-wide concern that is fast becoming a world-wide outrage that has already been the catalyst for the protests currently seen in Canada, the Netherlands, the U.K, U.S.A, Italy, New Zealand and of course here in Australia.
The ABS death statistics clearly show that though the death rates from people who had Covid-19 appeared to be that of pandemic proportions, the truth is that nearly 75% of the deaths attributed to this virus had “a pre-existing chronic condition listed on the death certificate”. The most recent figures suggest approximately 87 of the nearly 3000 reported deaths were because of Covid alone and with the average age of those deaths being 87, it really begs the question as to what restrictions, lockdowns and mandates really achieved (other than destroying thousands of small and medium size businesses worldwide).

Now, for me what is really concerning is that when these ABS virus figures are compared with the Therapeutic Goods Administration’s data on deaths, injuries and adverse reactions related to the vaccine, it is apparent that a vastly higher number of deaths occurred after receiving this experimental vaccine treatment (at nearly 10 x) than those dying from the virus. The TGA website does state that “An adverse event report does not mean that the medicine is the cause of the adverse event”, yet the fact that over 800 deaths and over 10000 adverse events are recorded as being related to the vaccines here in Australia since February 2021, indicates at the very least that these drugs deserve far more scrutiny and are potentially of much greater concern than that of the virus.

I accept that most business’s felt obliged to follow these government mandates, but the truth is that the those that participated in enforcing the removal of these fundamental freedoms, have participated in the mass segregation and discrimination of a minority group of people who did nothing more than practice their fundamental freedom of choice.
I still fail to see how segregating a small minority of those who have not even had the virus from the vast majority who have already received their “vaccine” protection makes any sense. Yet despite my own personal health circumstances making the jab not an option I would consider, this one personal choice has resulted in my DJ business not earning one dollar of income for over three months. As is reasonable to expect, this quickly resulted in falling behind on bills & rental payments and eventually led to my children and I being evicted from our long-time home last week.
The fact is, I am currently writing this message in my car, outside that home using the internet plan I have paid for, on a property that I can no longer gain access to.
I do not blame Katarzyna for my current circumstances, and I acknowledge that it was my choice to boycott gigs from mid-November, which meant I ran out of money over a month ago, instead of two weeks ago. I had suspicions when I made the decision to boycott gigs, that the unvaccinated mandates could potentially last for months but to be honest, I didn’t think the Government would take it this extreme, or that the general-public would so willingly go along with it. So, I boycotted my next several bookings to try and showcase to venue managers and owners such as yourself, just how serious I (and many others within the Brisbane nightlife community) considered this issue.
Unfortunately, it fell on deaf ears.
It should be known that since the beginning of this “pandemic”, I did everything Katarzyna required of me, including completing Covid control training, following restriction guidelines, wearing masks, and always remaining professional despite my reservations to these restrictions. Even when it became clear to me in November that the December 17 mandates were essentially going to remove my ability to provide any form of meaningful income for my family, I still communicated my concerns regarding these issues respectfully, with an open-mind and thru the appropriate channels.
After multiple online discussions with Ryan Allen and chatting with Jackie McNally, as well as face to face conversations with management & staff during my working hours, I received no level of understanding as to the consequences I was potentially facing and all that resulted time and again, was a deferring of responsibility for this decision onto the Katarzyna hierarchy. Hence why I now choose to address my concerns straight to you.
I feel I should also explain that it was not until the mandates took effect on December 17th that I felt it necessary to air my concerns on social media and though I stand by every word I wrote, I would also like you to know that I only did this as a last resort because of being left with no other option.
I personally don’t think businesses like Katarzyna will be held legally liable for the discrimination of unvaccinated individuals, as the responsibility falls largely onto the shoulders of the state Governments that created the mandates. I do have concerns though surrounding the latest ABS and TGA figures related to vaccine injuries & deaths because as they continue to rise and get more media attention, your decision to continue participating in these unsavoury mandates will becomes more and more unacceptable and untenable. It will only take one of your staff members to have an adverse reaction to the jab or booster which then results in a permanent disability or death, and you will quickly understand the points I have been making since these mandates began.
My biggest motivation for boycotting your venues was discussions I have had with several Katarzyna security and bar staff who felt they had been forced or given no option but to get “vaxxed” because of the threat of losing their job. This type of coercion is not only unethical but is also in direct breach of their constitutional rights and if you consider that the vaccine suppliers have already been given immunity from liability by the very same governments that put these mandates in place, it doesn’t take a lawyer to work out who will be next on the list of those that could be held accountable for an employee suffering a vaccine injury.
Now please understand, I don’t write this message to place the blame squarely at your feet, but instead I am trying and demonstrate that just by choosing to enforce mandates, your actions have already resulted in severe financial consequences for several people who had previously dedicated their time, passion, and livelihoods to being involved with your company. What is yet to come though is the very real issues surrounding possible long-term health complications related to the jabs.
Nobody trusts the Government and we all know they are bought and paid for by BIG company lobbyists and party donors, yet we thought that this time things would be different?
Unfortunately, because of the mass-fear generated by the pandemic and an ever-changing landscape of lockdowns, restrictions, deadlines, vaccination rates and mandates, we somehow ended up wilfully handing over our freedoms for what essentially looks to have been a deliberate scare campaign. This scare campaign looks to have been fuelled by corruption in our governments, greed within our medical systems and infection and death numbers that have never really added up. The excuse that “the government made me do it” may lead to avoiding threats of financial liability for most businesses in the short-term, but are you truly prepared to deal with the moral consequences that could possiblly occur over the long-term?
Though I believe that as a country, the time for arguing and blaming is over, it will never truly be over until the acquiescence to following these unethical and immoral mandates stop. Only once we all stop following the mandates, restrictions and lockdowns in a united front, can we really start the healing process.
It is now time to acknowledge the mistakes we have all made during the past two years and accept responsibility for the parts we have played in them. We must then do everything within our power to make things right again, which is simply a matter of no longer following or enforcing mandates and instead choosing to commit to doing what is right for the people.
Committing to doing what is right for the people who have been hardest hit during these unusual and difficult times.
Committing to never again perpetrating discrimination, segregation and shaming of a person, irrespective of their beliefs or medical decisions.
Committing to never again putting profits before the health, safety and well-being of those people that are the true life-blood of any business, its staff, contractors and the loyal customers that come back week in and week out.
There will be a time in the not-too-distant future when people will remember this pivotal point in history and ask the question: Who stood up when the truth came out and who did nothing? Who is deserving of our trust and who is not?
How do you think Katarzyna will be remembered then?
Considering the new information that has come to light, I hope you can understand what I am saying and take it on, not from a place of ego, anger or conflict but instead from a place of understanding and acceptance of doing what needs to be done. Once the truth is fully revealed to the masses, those companies that justified participating in acts of coercion, segregation, and discrimination for nothing more than money will struggle to find forgiveness from the people.
Yet those businesses that begin to work on rebuilding that trust now, at a time when their actions can still help to bring about positive change and a quicker end to suffering, have a real opportunity to be a part of the few that survive and potentially thrive in the coming months and years.
The time for building and regaining the trust of the people is here, but how businesses go about this will become increasingly harder the longer it is left undone. Just ask yourself this question. How am I going to prove myself worthy of the people that choose to venture within the walls of my venues? Not such an easy question to answer under the current context but I believe I could be of some help in finding the answer.
In the short term it will take a wilful acceptance to suffering the financial consequences that may result from not following mandates and instead committing to providing a safe, freedom loving venue and workplace that prioritises the health, well-being and human-rights of its employees and patrons, above unjust mandates and making a few extra dollars.
In the medium to long-term…
Though I have an abundance of ideas surrounding reputation repair, trust building, entertainment/ event management and social engagement options, as well as possible NFT income expansion and fund-raising opportunities for the vaccine-injured, performers, staff and the venues at large via smart-contracts, these ideas would only be viable for those venues willing to be brave and take the first steps to doing what is right.
Also, as someone who has ceased operation of two businesses, has liquidated most of my assets and is currently homeless (with essentially nothing to lose), I would first be requesting some form of gainful employment or at the very least some form of consultancy work before elaborating further.
It may not be tomorrow, it may not be next week, and it may not even be next month, but there will come a time in the not to distant future when you accept that I am correct. At that time, if you have an interest in further exploring such ideas with me, I would very much welcome the opportunity for a face-to-face meeting to give a more comprehensive proposal for your consideration.
Who knows, having an unvaxxed person on the books may just become a commodity, because we are pretty rare and weirder things have happened recently. Regardless, no matter what you decide, please know that I really do appreciate you taking the time to read this message and I will only ask for one favour if you decide that you are not interested in taking any of this information onboard. Please contact me first when Katarzyna eventually goes bankrupt as I would love to have first dibs on buying Cloudland.
Seriously though, I am grateful for the many years I have been able to work within your venues and though I hold onto the hope that I may one day again provide my services to a business that has always been very easy for me to get passionate about, if this does not occur I am still thankful for the many opportunities, memories and good times I have experienced over my past ten years of service.
